HOKA Runner Martin Hehir competes in distances from the mile to half-marathon, and has placed 7th at the 2016 Olympic Trials 10k. Coming from a family of nurses, Martin has dreamed of becoming a doctor himself since middle school. After a successful running career at Syracuse University, including a team NCAA National Cross Country Championship, Martin was faced with the decision to run professionally, or immediately begin medical school. He decided to defer medical school for a year while he moved to Flagstaff, AZ to train with the Northern Arizona Elite. As the year came to a close, he decided to try to balance both running and school. He began training in his new hometown of Philadelphia while attending Thomas Jefferson University medical school and remaining a part of the Northern Arizona Elite team. So far, Martin’s decision is panning out well, with a recent 2nd place finish at the Rock and Roll Philadelphia Half-Marathon and and 8th place finish at the USA Road 10-Mile Championships.
